Symbian SIG - Comparing Runtimes

I'm excited to say there will be two talks in May. Hartti Suomela will be comparing runtimes(ie, J2ME, python and flashlite) for Series 60.

What: Symbian Programming SIG meeting
Topic: Comparing Runtimes
When: Wednesday, May 16th, at 7PM
Where: Mozilla Foundation, 2121 Landings Drive, Build K, Mountain View, CA
Speaker: Hartti Suomela
Audience: Anyone interested in programming Symbian devices.
Cost: Nothing! Please RSVP to kernj at kernj.cnc.net

Abstract: Nokia's S60 platform supports multiple runtime environments. Java ME
(formerly known as J2ME) has the longest history of them, but recently
Flash Lite has made a lot ground world-wide (over 200 million phones so
far have Flash Lite preinstalled). An open source Python environment is
also available for S60 devices as a separate installation.
The presentation gives a quick overview of the three aforementioned
runtime environments and compares the environments from various angles.

Bio: Hartti works in the developer support organization (Forum Nokia) of
Nokia as a technology expert concentrating on Java ME and Flash Lite
development. Before joining Forum Nokia, he worked as a researcher in
the Software laboratory of Nokia Research Center. When Hartti is not
working on mobile technology, he can be found playing ultimate Frisbee
at Silicon Valley's many pick-up games.
